UntitledHave you ever wanted to know which rummage sales you should hit first for what you were looking for? Or wanted to know where the rummage sales where that had items you were interested in? Or, maybe you don’t go out shopping, but stay in your driveway to try to sell your no longer wanted items and wish there was a way for everyone shopping to know you were there waiting for them to find you? Well, this is your lucky year!

Brenda, among many others I’m sure, had these thoughts every community garage sale day. SO! This year we decided to try to solve that problem. Brenda will be putting together a map of any sales wanting to “register” their sale for the FC community garage sale day.

It is easy to do. If you are interested in “registering“, just follow the link below, fill out the form, and submit it by Sunday June 7, 2015. The addresses will be plotted on a map and along with a “legend” of sorts showing who is selling what types of items. The aim is to have it done and posted by Wednesday June 10 for anyone that wants to make a plan for Sunday. It is completely free to “register”. No names will be needed, although obviously the addresses will be listed.

Felled Trees in Diamond Jubilee Park & around the neighbourhood

Agrilus_planipennis_001Greenspace Updates: Fell and Dead Trees and water drainage

There have been a number of concerns about the fell and dead trees in and around the neighbourhood. George (Greenspace coordinator) has received word from the city that many of these trees have been taken down due to being infected by Emerald Ash Borer.

Later this summer the city will do site preparation work in order to get ready for planting. Planting will take place in fall 2015; a variety of native species will be planted.

Further, Sean Rycroft and the FCCA have been in contact with Councillor Qaqish and the City in regards to the Fitness Area at Diamond Jubilee Park and its lack of sufficient drainage. We raised the concerns that a) under that much water the fitness equipment is not functional and b) that the stagnant water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes (as I’m sure you’ve noticed if you’ve gone anywhere near there in the summer)
